Refund Policy

We want HippoSplit purchases to be straightforward. If something went wrong or HippoSplit is not the right fit, contact us at support@hipposplit.com and we will review your request.

Subscription Refunds

You may request a refund for a new subscription payment within:

  • 7 days after a monthly subscription purchase or renewal.
  • 30 days after a yearly subscription purchase or renewal.

If approved, we will refund the subscription payment to the original payment method and may remove or adjust premium features associated with that payment.

Canceling a subscription stops future renewals but does not automatically create a refund. If you want a refund, contact support within the applicable refund window.

AI Parsing Usage

AI parses are used when HippoSplit starts processing a message or receipt photo. AI output can be imperfect, and individual parses are not separately refundable when:

  • No expense is found.
  • A receipt or message is hard to read.
  • AI output needs manual correction.
  • A user deletes or edits the resulting expense.
  • A parse request fails or times out.

We may make exceptions for clear duplicate charges, billing mistakes, service incidents, or other issues we determine are caused by HippoSplit.

Duplicate, Unauthorized, Or Failed Payments

If you believe you were charged twice, charged without authorization, or paid but did not receive the expected subscription, contact us. We may ask for payment identifiers, account email, purchase date, and screenshots of receipts so we can investigate.

For “paid but no Premium” issues, HippoSplit will verify payment status and fulfillment records before issuing access or a refund.

App Store Purchases

If you purchase through Apple App Store, Google Play, or another app store, refunds may need to be requested through that store. Store policies and timelines may apply.

Processing Time

If a refund is approved, we aim to initiate it within 5 business days. Your bank, card issuer, payment processor, or app store may take additional time to post the funds.

Non-Refundable Items

Unless required by law or approved by HippoSplit, the following are not refundable:

  • AI parses already used or attempted.
  • Subscription periods outside the refund window.
  • Fees charged by banks, card issuers, app stores, or currency conversion providers.
  • Taxes that we are not able to recover.

How To Request A Refund

Email support@hipposplit.com with:

  • The email address on your HippoSplit account.
  • The purchase date.
  • The purchase type: monthly subscription or yearly subscription.
  • Any receipt, invoice, checkout session, or app store order ID.
  • A short explanation of what happened.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The policy in effect at the time of purchase generally applies unless a change is required by law or is more favorable to you.
